Why prices vary from one quote to the next

Custom T‑shirt pricing is rarely a single fixed number because multiple technical and logistical factors influence the final cost. For customers in Missouri and the St. Louis area, comparing quotes fairly means looking beyond the per‑shirt line item and asking how the vendor handles setup, shipping, design time, garment sourcing, rush production and any platform or store fees.

Order quantity and economies of scale

Quantity is one of the most consistent drivers of per‑unit cost. Larger runs spread fixed expenses—setup, screens, proofing time—across more items, lowering the per‑shirt price. Small runs or single pieces typically carry a higher per‑unit price because the same setup and handling effort is required regardless of quantity. When comparing vendors, confirm whether the quote assumes a particular quantity and whether there are price breaks at higher quantities.

Number of print colors and print locations

Each print color and each separate print location (front, back, sleeve, hem) requires additional setup and production steps for traditional screen printing. More colors usually mean more screens and longer setup time, increasing cost. For multi‑location or multi‑color designs, ask providers for options to simplify artwork (spot color vs. full color) or to place large artwork on a single location to reduce charges.

Garment type, brand and specialty options

The choice of shirt—basic cotton tee, performance fabric, premium brand, or specialty weight—affects both the garment cost and the best print method. Premium or imported brands and performance fabrics generally cost more upfront, which raises the overall quote. Kick Print’s service list includes embroidery and promotional products as additional ways to brand apparel; embroidery and specialty finishes also add cost because of different equipment and labor.

Printing method, setup and finishing

Because Kick Print is listed as a screen printer, keep in mind that traditional screen printing typically has per‑color setup costs but excellent per‑unit value at medium to large runs. Alternative methods—direct‑to‑garment, heat transfer or embroidery—have different cost structures and may be preferable for small runs or full‑color photographic prints. Ask your vendor which method they recommend for your artwork and quantities, and whether setup fees are included or waived.

Turnaround time, shipping and platform fees

Faster turnaround often increases price because it can require re‑prioritizing production or paying for expedited shipping. Check what lead times are included with a base quote and whether a rush fee applies. Also confirm shipping terms: Kick Print’s business details note free shipping as a service, which can change the overall comparison against other vendors. Finally, if you plan to sell through an online storefront, verify any subscription or marketplace fees; one customer noted an annual platform fee and raised concerns about how that affects margins on items sold through an online store.

Questions to ask and tips for comparing quotes

To compare quotes fairly, request a detailed breakdown: garment cost, print/setup fees (per color), proofing, rush charges, shipping, and any digital‑store or subscription fees. Ask for free mockups and design help if available, and confirm reprint or sizing policies. When possible, request samples or photos of previous work to judge quality relative to price. If you have tight deadlines, prioritize vendors with documented fast turnaround and responsive communication—local reviews for Kick Print repeatedly highlight quick proofs, attentive service and on‑time delivery, which can be as valuable as a lower headline price.

Customer review

So strange they have asked for a review so many times lol I don't typically leave them. But the products quality is great. Order didn't take long. As for the subscription and website I'm still not going to give an opinion as I haven't completed my set up. I do love the idea of not having to order my products in bulk and just sit on them till they sell, they are a little more pricey then what I'd like to offer to my customers but this is just a trial and the quality of tees are great. I wish I didn't have to pay a annual fee for it to be active though because here in a few months if no one has ordered anything then that's just a whole year that I paid for for nothing
